| Chris and Marie now have their own radio show at 3MP | |
Chris
and Marie now have their own radio show at 3MP on a Sunday from 10am till
10.30am. The show focuses on one subject that are of real interest to
listeners. Chris and Marie also do a mini makeover every week for a lucky
listener. Chris and Marie say what type of garden they wish to make eg:-
Vegie patch, a rose bed, a low maintenance garden and request listeners to
send in a photo of the area where they wish to have such a garden and one
garden is selected for a makeover. Chris and Marie are well known, Melbourne
nursery people, famous for their zany radio and television commercials.Chris and Marie have worked together growing and selling plants Chris was brought up on a small flower and nursery property in Mount Dandenong and he started helping his father in the nursery from the age of 5. When Chris met Marie, he was a nursery hand in his father’s nursery. To make a little bit of extra money, they started a part time mail order business, selling exotic trees to rural properties throughout Australia. Chris and Marie have worked together growing and selling plants. These
days, they have two grown up children running their production nurseries and
the youngest son has his own sound engineering business and records Chris
and Marie’s ads.Chris’s idea of a holiday is a seed collecting trip Chris’s first memory of doing nursery work was standing on the roof of his father’s volkswagon and collecting wattle seeds. Collecting seeds and growing plants from seed is still Chris’s favourite part of the business and Chris and Marie have had lots of adventures collecting seed all over Australia and even the world. The fast growing, spectacular flowering Saphire Dragon came from seed that Chris collected in the late 1980’s in the mountains of Anhui- China. Chris and Marie specialise in giant Agaves, they produced their fields of agaves by climbing the cliffs along the ocean near Malibu and collecting 20ft flower stems and extracting the seed. and luckly Maire loves the adventure. Tune into 1377 3MP on 10am Sundays to hear Chris & Marie
discuss gardening and garden issues. |
